This recipe is quick and easy to make, in less than 10 minutes and serves 1-2 people, it makes about 800ml.
This red smoothie really gives you a kick and is rich in iron too, especially if you use beetroot juice instead of water! It also contains vitamin C from the fruit to improve the Iron absorption into your body. It is nice and tart and will make you feel alive! If you don’t like it tart you could replace the raspberries with strawberries and/or the grapefruit with orange to make it more sweet.
Ingredients:
- Half red beetroot (I used about 70g)
- 1 celery stick
- 1-2 big hands full butter lettuce
- 1/2-1 grapefruit
- 2/3 cup or 2 big hands full raspberries
- 1 thumb of ginger
- 1 tbsp flaxseed
- 1/2 tbsp moringa powder
- Water or red beetroot juice
Directions:
- Wash the veggies, ginger and berries. Cut up the celery, lettuce, ginger and beetroot and add it all to your blender. I used organic ginger and didn’t peel it, just wash it well.
- Peel the grapefruit, remove eventual seeds and add the fruit also to your blender. Add the remaining ingredients to your blender too and add water or beetroot juice to fill it up until you reach about 800ml (that’s the max. mark of my blender cup).
- Then blend it until smooth and enjoy!
*Moringa is one of my favorite ‘superfoods’ because it is for example rich in calcium and also has many more health benefits.
